Avril Lavigne updated fans on her official web site on Monday (April 27) after a special day last week at Vancouverâs Centre for Performing Arts. The pop singer writes:
On Friday, I was in Vancouver and honored as the Canadian Ambassador for 2010 World Expo, Shanghai, China. Itâs really exciting as itâs the first time China has ever hosted World Expo and the theme is âBetter City, Better Lifeâ. Itâs really cool that over 200 countries and international organizations are coming together at World Expo, Shanghai to create a better future for the world. Iâve played 2 shows in Shanghai. Itâs a great city and I look forward to visiting again next year.

Avril was chosen because of her immense popularity in China. Maybe if she performs next year, sheâll finally do her song âGirlfriendâ in Mandarin, like she was rumored to do last year on the Best Damn Tour.
Standing next to some Chinese people...and still looking tiny.
